Overview

Success with Biscuit Joiners will help woodworkers of all levels of skill and experience to get the most from their joiner and its associated products. The first part reviews the tool itself Β– different body types, main features, useful accessories, safety aspects, and so on Β– while the second part covers basic working methods and advanced techniques. The book’s final section introduces some useful workshop projects devised by the author.

Synopsis

The biscuit joiner is one of a woodworker’s most valuable tools—the simplest and most precise way to fit wood pieces together. Follow this guide that explains everything about how to saw boards to size, create entire furniture carcasses, add decorative details, and repair and restore broken and antique furniture parts. Projects to help you hone your skills include making a T-square, L-jig, joiner working table, biscuit joiner storage case, and dust collection drop box.

A Selection of the F&W Book Club.

Library Journal

Biscuit joiners can be vital power tools for furniture making and other projects. Here, Bailey (Routing for Beginners) introduces tool use and general safety and includes a review of products and supplies, the majority of which are not available in the United States. While the instructions and illustrations are clear and consistent, the arrangement is mediocre, as are the sample projects for utilizing the biscuit joiner. The main drawback-the European emphasis-makes this a less-than-desirable book for American audiences. A better choice would be Jim Stack's The Biscuit Joiner Project Book.
