Taiwan's Democratization

This book traces the growth of democracy in Taiwan, from the government's 1986 to allow greater freedom for opposition parties to the present day. The author draws on interviews with more than 20 prominent political figures, as well as detailed economic and electoral data, to sketch a finely-detailed portrait of the development of democratic structures on the island. These unique individual portraits allow the reader a richer understanding of the process and pace of democratization.
