Project-based learning is not a new strategy but has been neglected for some time because of education's focus on testing and the basics. This useful workbook provides the strategies necessary to not only incorporate project based learning that includes the basics, but to provide alternatives for the many learning styles within a classroom. Project-based learning usually appeals to more students because it is centered on an area of interest rather than on an isolated skill. Differentiated project-based learning provides alternatives to students to choose how they will learn a skill and how it will be assessed according to their strengths. Everyone learns the skill but in a way that maximizes their motivation to do so. The book provides all the steps to get organized as a teacher and defend your choice of methods to those parents and administrators who might question your choice of strategies. All the reproducibles, charts, outlines and assignments as well as a CD are included for standards in English/language, math, science and social studies for grades 6 and up. Veteran as well as first-time teachers should find the workbook helpful and inspiring. Resources, a bibliography and an index are included. Reviewer: Meredith Kiger, Ph.D.
