Gr 4-8-A look at career opportunities in television, focusing on the hardworking, skilled people upon whom a show's success depends. Using real people as the basis for discussion, this well-written text explores the roles of a production assistant, a grip, a camera operator, a sound engineer, a hairstylist, a costume designer, and an actor. Many of these careers do not require college degrees but they do demand diligence, grit, and an ability to learn on the job. The presentation is excellent, showing the positive and negative aspects of each position. Full-color photographs show the individuals in action. Also included are tips on how to get a TV job, a sample resume, and a three-page glossary. Young people bitten by the show-biz bug will enjoy this title.
