Synopsis
From one tiny tickle on a lovely little head to ten twirling tickles on tender tubby toes, this book counts up the number of tickles each member of the family gives from 1 to 10! This is a charming board book with a counting concept, too! Parents will love reading this interactive book to young children.
Children's Literature
It takes a group effort by an entire family playfully tickling a baby to rouse her so that she is completely awake and ready to start the day. Even the cat and dog take turns making the baby giggle more and more on this fun morning. The story begins with the baby receiving one tickle from her Mommy. On each page, the tickles are increased until she receives ten tickles. Images of smiling faces delightfully grace the story with tenderness. The book's layout incorporates a fun design, and patterns such as swirls, polka dots, and checks found throughout. A daisy pattern also appears; each number on each page is accompanied by that number of daisies, which provides a solid visual to aid readers who are counting along. The color scheme is friendly with greens, purples, oranges, and other bright complementary colors dominating the pages. Nothing is lost in the transition to board book. In its original picture book format, this story was selected by the National Association of Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) as an honor book for infants and toddlers. Reviewer: Cherie Ilg Haas
