Overview

In his own time, Lysander Spooner was one of the most influential American thinkers on the issues of abolition, legal theory, natural rights and government. Found within these pages is one of the most incisive legal analyses concerning the idea of the "consent of the governed" ever found in the history of thought. His perspectives on the Civil War and the proper meaning of government by consent found here in No Treason are as relevant to our time as they were to his own. This Forgotten Voices of Liberty edition contains annotations and a faithful representation of the original printed text.
