From the publisher's attractive Look into the Past series, this slim volume introduces the Aztecs primarily through their art and artifacts. Short chapters cover such topics as work, family, gods, games, music, knights, appearance, and Montezuma. Clear, colorful photographs of places and artifacts and reproductions of Aztec drawings form an impressive, expressive body of illustrations. The formal text is comparatively brief, but the captions are often paragraphs of information and explanation. While not a complete resource for research on the Aztecs, this would be an excellent, visual complement to books describing Aztec culture and history.
