The brain is divided into four regions, the cerebrum, the cerebellum, the diencephalon, and the brain stem. The author has presented a careful examination of the brain and the nervous system. The book includes chapters on the nerves, what is inside the brain, a brain map, left brain and right brain activities, brain skills, linking brain and body, sensing the world, movement, monitoring, controlling, memory, learning, sleep, dreams, feelings, emotions, brain development, injuries, and diseases. The pages are well illustrated with colorful photos, diagrams and charts. The wonderful technical illustrations are both beautiful and informative. Tall, golden-colored boxes labeled "Case Notes" appear in each chapter. Each "Case Notes" section contains a different question with a brief but thoughtful answer. In the memory and learning chapter the "Case Notes" box asks, "What is Dyslexia?" and then gives a short explanation. The back matter contains a glossary, an index, a bibliography, and a list of helpful websites.
