Examines the role of different kinds of resources in the performance of US companies in the memory segment of the semiconductor industry from 1970 to 1990. Finds that those firms whose assets were conventional, such as raw materials and equipment, did not flourish as well as those whose assets were difficult to imitate, such as expertise and creativity.
