Publishers Weekly

In this German import, first published in 1992, a young blonde witch and her cat decide to investigate a house, but the witch's broomstick breaks. As she explores the house, flaps reveal each of the residents: the Music Witch, who creates "sublime" sounds; the Kitchen Witch, who prepares delicious food; and the Bedroom Witch, with soporific powers. Luckily, the Tinkering Witch is able to fix her broom--while adding rocket power. The cozy, cluttered details on every floor lend the book warmth and charm. Ages 4 up. (Aug.)
