Gr 7-10-Of these three books, Printing Press is the most thought-provoking as this invention played a major role in religious, scientific, and financial revolutions; the development of literacy in Europe; and human rights. The Internet explores the development of cyberspace since the 1960s and includes expansion, economic implications, health issues, and challenges for law and government. Gunpowder is actually a study of weaponry and warfare, which has been drastically changed by the invention of black powder and smokeless powder. The issues discussed in the books will be a rich source of information for researchers doing reports, debate preparations, and as enrichment for the study of history. The colorful illustrations are appealing and complement the texts. The only drawback is that almost all of the books suggested in the lists for further reading are adult. Solid choices for nonfiction shelves.-Elizabeth Stumpf, Clearfield Middle School, PA Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.Book Details
