Author Biography: Phillip Jarrett was assistant editor of Aeroplane Monthly magazine from its foundation in 1973 until 1980, before serving ten years as production editor of Flight International magazine. Now a freelance writer and editor, he has produced countless articles and papers on a wide variety of aeronautical subjects, as well as lecturing on aviation topics. Author of Another Icarus: Percy Pilcher and the Quest for Flight, published by the Smithsonian Institution in 1987, he is currently series editor for the authoritative Putman History of Aircraft Volumes.
