School Library Journal
Gr 3-5-These titles are just right for reports. Each one covers the history of the building or location, including how and when construction began. Then its use over time is discussed. Full-color and black-and-white photos and diagrams appear throughout. Pearl Harbor opens with the Japanese attack, gives a brief history of the area, and describes the present-day naval station and the USS Arizona Memorial. Pentagon and Trade Center include a chapter on the events of 9/11, but they are not the focus of the books. Sentence structure is generally kept to an appropriate level, and the glossaries are helpful. Diagrams and maps are clear and assist in promoting understanding. The publisher's Web site is noted, with promises to keep up-to-date links on the topics. Likely to be popular nonfiction choices.-Sharon R.
