School Library Journal
Gr 4-7-In a well-organized and concise format, these series entries detail their respective state's history, geography, climate, rivers, forests, and wildlife. Fradin points out that even though Arizona is a beautiful panorama of mountains, desert, and sky, it faces the all-too-common problems of pollution, lack of water, and poverty. Colorado's colorful landscapes, as well as its legends, are found in this slim but inclusive book. Excellent full-color photographs, period reproductions, and maps appear throughout both books. Useful summaries of state miscellanea as well as glossaries are helpful for at-a-glance information.-Julie Halverstadt, Douglas Public Library District, Castle Rock, COBook Details
