Overview

Profiting enormously from the success of his uncle’s bogus medicine, called Tono-Bungay, young George Ponderovo pursues his dream of building an airplane. As the empire of Tono-Bungay continues to grow, however, George is headed for a breakdown as he begins to question the corrupt society that allows his family to become so powerful.

About the Author, H. G. Wells

H. G. Wells (1866–1946) is often called the “Father of Science Fiction.” While science fiction was his most popular genre, Wells also wrote on history, politics, and made social commentary. His “scientific romances” speculated about the future, scientific advancements, and outer space. His works include The Time Machine, and The War of the Worlds.
