Editorials

Children's Literature - Vicki Foote

This informational book in the series about transportation explains in brief text how a tractor works, how a plow is used in preparing the fields and how seeds are sowed with a seed drill. Large, colorful photographs with specific details illustrate the processes. There is some information about taking care of crops, what is done during the harvest time, and there are several pages about collecting wheat and baling hay. An activity page asks questions and provides suggestions for writing and drawing projects. A glossary page gives meanings for words that are in bold print throughout the text. A table of contents and an index are included. The large photographs and brief text make it a good source for young children to learn basic facts about farm vehicles and work on farms. Reviewer: Vicki Foote
