He combines literary and linguistic approaches to analyze Italian translations of works by D. H. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Henry Green, and Barbara Pym. He finds that the difference between the original and the translation varies from author to author, and argues that the variation illuminates the nature of the work.
