Children's Literature

Conley offers an introduction to the history, geography, plants, animals, people, economy, cities, transportation, government, sports, leisure activities, holidays, and festivals of Venezuela. It is all the important, up-to-date information young readers should know about the country in an easy to read format. There is large type, short sentences and paragraphs, controlled vocabulary, and color photographs. A "Fast Facts" and a timeline are at the front of the book. The very first page of text contains a greetingβ€”Hola! (Hello from Venezuela)β€”from a child in a great photograph. The back matter includes a glossary, web sites, and index. There is much to learn in one little book. Even though it is intended for children anyone could find the information useful. This attractive book has a variety of illustrations, maps, tables and photographs. Young children may need some assistance with vocabulary. 2004, ABDO Publishing Company, Ages 8 to 12.
