Synopsis

Keep history on track — that's an order!

Abigail and her friends have an important job today: They must convince George Washington to stay in Valley Forge and continue to fight the Revolutionary War. The future of America depends on him!

Turns out, General Washington is superstubborn. No matter what the kids say, or where they take him, they can't get him to change his mind. Will Abigail and the boys succeed, or will the father of our country become just a blip in history?

Children's Literature

What would it be like to travel back in time and meet a famous person at a critical point in his career? Stacia Deutsch and Rhody Cohen's "Blast to the Past" series allows young readers to imagine meeting Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney, and Betsy Ross, among other historical figures. In the eighth book of the series, Abigail and her friends have an important job: they have to convince George Washington to stay at Valley Forge and continue fighting the Revolutionary War. The future of America depends upon their ability to convince the tired general to stay at his command. But no matter how hard the children try, Washington refuses to change his mind. Will history continue along its course? This series brings up critical issues: what would happen if a notable figure were prevented from reaching his destiny? How would world history change if a single moment were altered? Young readers will enjoy stepping back in history for a fantastic journey touched by imagination and wonder.
