Water Supply is part of the "Global Issues" series, which consists of six books. Each title studies one major environmental topic, and the subject is broken down into five issues. This volume examines problems in Australia, Uganda, Central Asia, the United States, and Dubai. The need for freshwater is increasing as are the uses of water for irrigation, and much of that water may be wasted. In addition leisure activities such as golf and swimming create other problems. Also pointed out is the damage to natural ecosystems which may be caused by the building of dams, including megadams. Maps, photographs, charts, "Fast Facts," and case studies appear throughout the book, and websites are listed for further study. Suggestions for students to help protect the environment are offered, and ways to use water in a wise manner are presented. Students are urged to conduct a water audit to determine how much water is wasted by just one dripping faucet. Reviewer: Carolyn Mott Ford
