Synopsis

Every now and then a perfect baby book appears. What Do You Want? is just such a book, with its simple text and beautiful illustrations by Sweden’s renowned author and illustrator Lars Klinting. We turn from page to page wondering what will come next, each time finding an answer that is a tiny bit unexpected, but also very satisfying. Babies will love this book with its familiar images and little surprises. Delightful in its simplicity, Klinting’s classic style shines in this timeless publication, reminiscent of the Golden Age of the picture book.

Child Magazine

This Swedish import is a quiet charmer. On the opening page, kids see a delicately rendered rooster standing alone. "The rooster wants..." reads the caption, completed on the next page by "his hen," with artwork showing the affectionate pair of birds. This pattern continues throughout, but with twists to challenge children's thinking: The carriage wants its baby, and finally, the pillow wants its cheek. Not a bad way to end a book, especially at bedtime. (Ages Birth to 2)
