These two Matchem board books have Dutch door-like pages so that the upper half of the book can be read independently of the bottom. That makes it easy for toddlers to flip back and forth matching word pairs (``mother and father'' with ``baby,'' ``sheep'' with ``lamb'') and corresponding photographs. The first of these titles concentrates on adult/youngster pairs. The second, What Goes with This?, matches objects: ``socks'' with ``sneakers,'' ``doll'' with ``cradle,'' ``paint box'' with ``brushes.'' The spreads are color-coded, to aid the matching process; the photographs have been carefully edited. With a concept that is both clear and sleekly executed, these books not only have a purpose, but a sense of style. Ages 1-4. (May)
