Children's Literature

The state of Wisconsin is thoroughly examined in this information book, one in the publisher's "From Sea to Shining Sea" series. Excellent photos and drawings from archives and stock images make the design of the book appealing. The many sidebars provide succinct facts and thought-provoking questions. "Who's Who in Wisconsin?" is a frequent sidebar identifying important state citizens from all walks of life and their accomplishments. The geography, history, economics, government, and culture of Wisconsin are presented in well-written chapters. The six maps throughout the book are commendable and lend smart support to the text. A recipe for Norwegian Pancakes is a nice touch. Back matter includes an almanac, a historical timeline, famous Wisconsinites, a glossary, web sites and book titles, and an index.
