Publishers Weekly

Searching for an attractive but thoughtful Easter gift book for the pastor or priest in your life? In the style of Wisdom from a Pastor's Heart, Connelly collects quotations, Scripture verses and devotional excerpts from fellow pastors and some of Christendom's great minds, including Frederick Buechner, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, John Wesley and Mother Teresa (one of the only women quoted here). Each section has between six and eight short reflections, making this a single-sitting read or a loose-form devotional that can be stretched through the days of Holy Week. Connelly organizes the book as a "journey through the last week of Jesus' life," moving from his triumphal entry into Jerusalem to his agony on the cross and resurrection on the third day. The compilation contains some quotable gems, suitable for citing from the pulpit or simply pondering with a cup of tea. (Jan. 31) Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
