Gr 3 Up Mixed luminous and earthen colors enhance the magical aura of this three-dimensional book. Portions pop up, others slide, and one even requires a two-handed glide to reveal the unicorn framed between two trees. The minimal text, merely a description of properties of unicorns, is subordinate to the package. The illustrations are attractive but lack the detail usually characteristic of this artist. The fragility of the format and the low-keyed narrative suggest that although these Unicorns make good gifts for mature unicorn hobbyists, there's no easy home for them in library collections or in the hands of very young readers.
