Synopsis

Holiday House's first graphic novel follows the wacky adventures of alien rabbits who want to take over the world!

The Wuv Bunnies have landed! When a carrot spaceship sets down in Hercules Smith's backyard and two large rabbits hop out, Hercules knows he's in for an interesting morning. The Wuv Bunnies warn Hercules that the evil Funny Bunnies have invaded the earth. It's up to Hercules to fend off the Wuv Bunnies' smooches (the rabbits just w-u-u-u-v to wuv!) and try to save the human race. Hilariously illustrated by Ethan Long, this humorous graphic novel will have readers rolling.

""Hilarious. . . Think Captain Underpants meets Star Trek.""—Dr. Teri Lesesne, Professor of Children's Literature, Sam Houston State University

Children's Literature

Hercules Smith awakes one Saturday morning to find a ten foot tall carrot-shaped space ship in his yard. Out of the hatch pops two large rabbits named Willy and Gwaad, as in "Willy happy to meet you!" and "Gwaad to meet you." They are the Wuv Bunnies from Outers Pace who like to tell corny jokes and think they are hilarious. The Wuv Bunnies have come to inform Hercules that he has been chosen to save the Earth from the sinister Funny Bunnies and their terrible weapon that turns kids into carrots. The black-and-white cartoon illustrations are reminiscent of the "Captain Underpants" series and they share a common audience of seven to ten year old boys. The short chapters with more pictures than words are ideal to draw in the reluctant reader, as are the last two pages filled with more jokes to share. The book and the jokes are full of groaners for adults but are perfect for their target age group. This book would be a popular addition to the elementary library collection and while it calls itself a graphic novel, it has much more text than the label would lead you to expect.
