Four clear, concise entries in a series devoted to showing independent readers places many will never have the opportunity to visit. An Air Show Adventure describes the events at the EAA Fly-In held each year in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The aircraft on display range from antique biplanes to blimps , Harrier jets to the Concorde. The underlying theme is that many major advances in aviation technology have been achieved by ordinary people in their garages. An Outward Bound School highlights the school's activities on Hurricane Island off the coast of Maine. Participants test their physical stamina and face the challenges of nature; most endure and find inner resources they never knew they had. The Everglades and Yellowstone Park have the most visual and textual appeal. Both titles focus on current environmental thinking that emphasizes the interdependence of all aspects of the national parks' ecosystems. The unique personality of each park is brought to life through the excellent full-color photographs and descriptive texts. Current, well-written additions to nonfiction collections. --Pamela K.
