School Library Journal

Gr 3-6-Another book about the Yellowstone Fire of 1988. The writing is factual and scientific; terms included in the glossary appear in bold print. The full-page, full-color photographs, while attractive, have no real child appeal except for a few clear shots that feature the park's animals. The inclusion of up-to-date information is helpful; however, this book does not identify any unusual discoveries or clearly document research in such a way as to make it a necessary purchase. Libraries that have Carole G. Vogel and Kathryn A. Goldner's The Great Yellowstone Fire (Sierra Club, 1990), Patricia Lauber's Summer of Fire (Orchard, 1991), or Dorothy Hinshaw Patent's Yellowstone Fires (Holiday, 1990) won't need Staub's title.-Susannah Price, Boise Public Library, ID
