Greene has added another winning volume to the "Artist's Photo Reference" series, which includes his Artist's Photo Reference: Landscapes and Artist's Photo Reference: Buildings & Barns. These books provide a broad archive of images for artists who prefer to work from photos and for those times when any artist must refer to a schooner or a pelican quickly. This volume presents hundreds of color images of fishing boats, tugboats, cruise ships, sailboats, docks, harbors, lighthouses, marinas, fishing equipment, and seabirds. A good section on taking one's own photos, plus six step-by-step painting demonstrations in a range of media, round out the book. Highly recommended, as are the other titles in the series; to complement the series, see Hazel Harrison's Painting Great Pictures from Photographs. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
