Gr 4-7-These titles invite students to explore science careers. They open with an overview of the respective field and an explanation of what geologists or astronomers do. A brief history of past discoveries is followed by a spread devoted to modern methods, one that looks at the training required of scientists, and one that explains the tools and instruments of the trade. Short interviews with working practitioners and a two-page FAQ section are included. The first book recounts the role the scientists played in the discovery of oil in Saudi Arabia and then looks to the work of geologists of the future. The second title highlights the creation and successes of the Hubble Space Telescope before looking to future exploration.
