Baron Friedrich von Steuben was born is Prussia, but came to America to pursue a career in the Continental Army. Friedrich had mastered war tactics and battle techniques while he fought in the Prussian army. Eventually, the Prussian army was reduced in size and Friedrich looked for another army to join.
