Children's Literature

This book is part of the "Colors in Nature" series that teaches children how to recognize certain colors through examples found in the environment. This particular edition is filled with photographs of blue skies, flowers, birds, etc. The type is very large and easy to read. All the pages are bright and colorful and the text is straightforward. The series is intended for young children in order to learn to identify the color blue and associate it with what they see in their surroundings. The series is also a good introduction to the environment because the author seeks to familiarize children with the various insects and plants in nature and convey a few facts about them in the process. There is a glossary in the back for a few vocabulary words. This is a good source for parents who are just starting to teach their children about colors. There is a final page that also teaches children about how colors found in nature are not static but are prone to change. 2004, Raintree/Reed Elsevier, Ages 2 to 4.
