Children's Literature
This book is part of the "Colors in Nature" series which teaches children how to recognize certain colors as they are found in nature. This particular edition shows various photographs of yellow things such as flowers, animals and fish. The type is very large and easy to read. All the photographs are bright and colorful and the text is straightforward. The series is intended for young children in order to learn to identify the color yellow and associate it with what they see in their surroundings. The series is also a good introduction to the environment because the author seeks to familiarize children with the various yellow creatures and plants in nature and convey a few facts about them in the process. There is a glossary in the back for vocabulary words. There is a final page that also teaches children about how colors found in nature are not static but tend to change. 2004, Raintree/Reed Elsevier, Ages 2 to 4.βRihoko Ueno
