Overview

Black Cat wants her friends to come trick-or-treating with her, but they are all too busy—preparing to throw a surprise Halloween party for her.  The lively text, colorful illustrations and sound effects all enhance the clacking noise of this format.
Parents and caregivers are always looking for books that will engage babies and very small children, and this series fits the bill. And it's just the right size for little hands, diaper bags, strollers, and cribs. The colorful, simple illustrations make this a must-have for baby's first Halloween.

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

Halloween can be scary, especially for very young children. This board book with a tab top and finger hole is perfect for kids who are experiencing the holiday for the first time. The black cat on the cover is cute not the least bit scary. The book actually opens in portrait mode and it tells a simple story of a cat who wants to go trick-or-treating, but all of his friends are busy. Owl is making cookies, little witch is preparing a punch. Ghost is carving a pumpkin, and bat is learning a new dance. Why all these preparations—because they are throwing a Halloween party. While it is part of the "Clackers" series—the noise that the pages make when the book is shaken is not really significant. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
