Sharon Oliver - Children's Literature
This title from the "I am Your Pet" series is delightful. Written in the first person from the viewpoint of a dog, it is an informative and enjoyable read. The attraction begins with the cover, a close up photo of a dog's eyes that is virtually irresistible. The text covers a brief history of dogs and information about choosing a healthy and happy pet dog, as well as detailed information relating to dog care. Photographs of different dogs engaged in various activities fill most of the space on the pages. The text is presented in short paragraphs around the photos. The layout is very easy to read and appealing to the eye. A very detailed table of contents and index are both provided, as well as a glossary and lists providing additional reading and web sites. This is a wonderful title and a must have for all children's libraries. 2004, Gareth Stevens, Ages 5 to 10.
