Synopsis
All Aboard Reading titles feature extra-large type, primer-easy sentence structure, and colorful rebus pictures that replace many nouns in the text. Nothing wakes this baby--not a beeping car, not a barking dog, not a ringing telephone! But when a tiny fly buzzes by, he finally wakes up. And what does it take to get him back to sleep? A kiss on the nose from big sister! Includes 24 cut-out flash cards.
Children's Literature
This baby seems to be able to sleep through anything, but suddenly the buzz of a fly brings him wide-awake. Learning how he gets back to sleep is part of the fun. Part of the picture reader category in the "All Aboard Reading" series, this book is a delightful short tale for the pre-reader. Using rebus pictures interspersed in simple text, children will enjoy the topic and humor. Included are 24 paper flash cards to cut from the back, having the picture to match the text on one side and the word on the other. The quirky illustrations are colorful and realistic. As a teacher/media specialist, I would make a pocket on the inside cover to hold the flash cards, perhaps color-coding them to match the cover border.
