Children's Literature

Can you identify the eye of an animal? This book is a great guessing game for children. The left-hand side of the page is a description of the animal so the children can guess what it is. The illustration on the right-hand side of each page shows a close up of the eye of an individual animal, and then when the flap is opened, the illustration of the entire animal is shown. The illustrations are realistic and very lifelike. The detail in the book is wonderful, and children will gain a keen understanding and appreciation for the eight animals in the book. Younger children will be able to identify the similarities of the body parts. Older children will be able to guess the animal by description and site. The text is too difficult for a first reader, but young children will easily be able to understand the words and their meanings. 2005, Charlesbridge Publishing, Ages 3 to 5.
