Watson's two-volume bibliography is an excellent resource for identifying analytical and interpretive materials on feminism and women's issues. Most of the 7000 book and article entries were published between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s. Each entry is listed under one major theme and sub-theme, with cross references to related categories. Although users would have been better served if some categories had separate listings (e.g., black women, women in literature), if the general bibliography were subdivided into topics, and if an author index were provided, this is still an invaluable source. Highly recommended for university and college libraries.-- Frada L. Mozenter, Univ. of North Carolina at Charlotte Lib.Booknews
Some 7,000 English-language entries of books and journal articles published between 1974 and 1986. Entries are grouped in thematic sections such as feminism as a critique of patriarchy, women and capitalism, women and work, women and sexism, and sex-role socialization. Within sections, specific issues are identified and organized alphabetically by author. Each entry is cross-referenced to one or more other entries. There is a selective list of other bibliographies on feminist topics as well as a list of feminist journals. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)Book Details
