Overview

Women's Issues are those with special relevance to women's lives: the history and contributions of women as a group and as individuals; women's experiences with government, with the medical, scientific, and educational establishments, and with cultural institutions such as the media; women's economic position, physical aspects of women's experience (such as childbirth, sexuality, and life-cycle changes) and women's role in family life; crimes with predominantly female victims, such as rape and domestic violence; and movements such as feminism β€” that seek to change women's lives. This bibliography focuses on how issues affect the lives of individual women, members of particular groups, and women in general in the United States. Arranged topically, the citations direct the reader to works by both women and men who write from a variety of political, cultural, and social perspectives.

Booknews

An annotated select bibliography for high school and college students on topics of special relevance to women's lives as individuals, members of particular groups, or citizens of the US. Arranged in sections by topic and alphabetically within sections. The entries include biographies and personal narratives as well as scholarly, historical, and theoretical works, and vary widely in level of difficulty. A problematic work due to the unclear boundaries of the subject. Who can say what individual women will find of "special relevance" to their lives? Annotation c.
