What is a Fighter Plane? This title answers the question in very simple terms. The text briefly covers the main parts of this mighty flying machine. The author also talks about the pilots who operate the aircraft and the protective masks and flight suits that the pilots need to wear. The words are straightforward and clear, with a few short sentences per spread. The photographic images also help support early readers in their quest to decode the text. In one photograph, a bright neon-yellow arrow with the words "landing gear" points to the aircraft's wheels. At the back of the book are a glossary, bibliography, an index, and some information on how to find related internet sites. This title is part of the "Pebble Plus Books/Mighty Machines" series which includes Aircraft Carriers, Ambulances, Backhoes, Concrete Mixers, Cranes, Dump Trucks, Earthmovers, Fire Trucks, Military Helicopters, Police Cars, Rescue Boats, and Tanks. 2005, Capstone Press/Pebble Plus Books, Ages 3 to 6.
