Here is an adorable lift-the-flap book that preschoolers will love. A little goose has strayed from his mother. Now he must search for her among the animals in the barnyard. Approaching a dog, a horse, a pig, and other animals, the little goose asks, "Honk?" When children lift the flap on the animals, they discover "Woof," "Neigh," "Oink," and other animal-sound words until the little goose is finally reunited with his mother. Children's Literature

Little Goose is lost and he is searching for his mother. Kids accompany him, lifting flaps to see if Mama Goose is there. Caregivers can rest assured knowing that the last flap uncovers Mama whose joy at finding her little one is quite evident. There is nothing terribly original about this story, but it is a book that young kids will enjoy.

PreS-Gr 1-A simple but clever story illustrated with watercolor cartoons and lift-the-flap surprises. Little Goose has become separated from its mother. As the youngster searches for her around the farm, it calls out, "Honk," at a variety of search sites. The lift of a flap reveals, in turn, a dog, a cat, a horse, a pig, a cow, and a turtle, each of whom responds to Little Goose with its own sound. As the gosling approaches a dangerous road, a car "honks." When readers lift the flap of the car, they see Mama Goose honking a warning to her baby. Mother and child are reunited and a contented "Honk" is sighed. Preschoolers will happily participate in the honking, neighing, and oinking as the various animals are revealed. A good companion to Jane Simmons's Come Along, Daisy! (Little, Brown, 1998).-Kathy M. Newby, Russiaville Branch Library, IN
