Children's Literature

Jaguar is a British company, but it is owned by an American company, the Ford Motor Company. Jaguars are known for their sleek design, speed, and fancy features. The car was originally built in 1927. The name has changed a number of times, but by 1946, it settled on Jaguar. The XK series, introduced in 1948, is the most popular model. It is attractive and powerful. The bodyweight is much lighter than other cars because it is made out of aluminum. A unique feature of the Jaguar is the governor, a device that keeps the car from going more than 155 miles per hour. An all new lightweight coupe, XK was introduced at a car show in Detroit, Michigan, in 2005. In the United States, Jaguar makes three types of Sedans, a small, medium and large model. The text is in both English and Spanish. Significant words are in bold letters with definitions. A diagram of the interior parts of the car is shown. A glossary is included and an "internet resource" lists appropriate internet sites related to the book. This book is part of the "Blazers" series. Reviewer: Leila Toledo
