Synopsis

Traces the personal life and career of professional wrestler Mark Callaway, who is known as the Undertaker.

Children's Literature

Mark Callaway enters the arena; darkness surrounds this wrestler known as the Undertaker. Many know him and all fear him. One of the best characters to come out of professional wrestling, he inspires fear and awe in the audience. In this volume of the "Pro Wrestlers" series of biographies, A. R. Schaefer provides a glimpse at Callaway's professional career. One problem with the tone of Schaefer's book is that it presents professional wrestling as a real sporting event where the outcome of a match is not already decided. However, the results of professional wrestling matches are decided before hand and it is important for younger readers to understand that. One thing this book does is show the grueling schedule and demanding physical pressure on these sports entertainers. This book might be fun reading about a wrestler's career in the sport, but it does not give much insight into the reality of professional wrestling. 2003, Capstone Press, Orsborn
