The challenge is made. With intensity and power, the wrestler known as Chris Jericho, alias Y2J, makes his way to the ring. The crowd is cheering or booing depending on who their favorite wrestler is. But Jericho has one mission in mind, defeating his opponent. This is the world of professional wrestling. Where do such characters come from in the world of pro wrestling? A. R. Schaefer focuses mainly on Chris Jericho's career in the world of sports entertainment, providing little biographical information on the athlete. One problem with the tone of Schaefer's book is that it presents professional wrestling as a real sporting event where the outcome of a match is not set. However, the results of professional wrestling matches are predetermined, and it is important for younger readers to understand that. One thing this book does do is show the grueling schedule and demanding physical pressure on these sports entertainers. This volume, a part of the "Pro Wrestlers" series, might be fun reading about a wrestler's career in the sport, but it does not give much insight into the reality of professional wrestling. 2003, Capstone Press, OrsbornBook Details
