School Library Journal
PreS-These two easy-to-read books describe the most basic of facts about the animals' habitat, food, and behavior. Large-print texts are accompanied by photographs of each animal placed in a series of watercolor drawings of shrubbery, leaves, and plants. Unfortunately, readers never learn what the baby animal is called (besides its anthropomorphic name), where it lives, or what its parents might look like. The last page of each book offers a more detailed description of the animal, but it's still very brief and only slightly more informative. These titles are serviceable additions for the earliest of nonfiction readers or preschool lovers of animals, but better books abound.-Rita Soltan, Baldwin Public Library, Birmingham, MI Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
