Each title in the "Wild World of Animals" series introduces a particular animal with an overview, definition, and certain statistics like how big they are and how many kinds of that animal are found in the world. A well-chosen photograph of the animal with labels of important features, such as bill, wing or stripe, help focus reader attention on vocabulary or special characteristics. Each spread is headed by an arc-shaped red band highlighting the topic addressed below. These include what the animal eats, how it raises its young and where, family life, predators or prey, and a section about people and the animal under discussion. A "Hands On" section invites readers to try to do something that an animal does with ease, as in this case, an attempt to pick up small items using a thumb but with the fingers as one unit, much as a lemur does.
