Synopsis

Provides instructions for making such items as a clay pen holder, paper rockets, monster masks, sock puppets, and a "weather reporter."

Kristin Harris - Children's Literature

Although few of these twenty-one craft activities are unique and new, the instructions, illustrations and photos make this a good guide. There is a pretty good range of activities, from simple tepees made of paper and wooden skewers to complex dioramas. Paper plates are used to make a flying saucer that really flies. Crepe-paper strips are added for a lively rocket. More complex activities include making a swivel snake with thin cardboard and a three-dimension map using paint and making buildings and trees out of paper. Socks to make puppets and ice cream sticks for picture frames are familiar young children crafts. Sewing a placemat is one of the activities that would require the most time and patience. The pet shakers, which are first modeled in clay then covered in papier-mΓ’chΓ© are also more time consuming projects. My favorites are the totem poles made out of cardboard and egg cartons and the clay crayon holder. 2002, Gareth Stevens Publishing,
