Editorials
From The Critics
Reviewer: Patrick E Simon, MD(Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine)Description: This is an excellent review of the major topics in otolaryngology, effective for preparation for in-service examination and board review.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a comprehensive review of the major conditions encountered in the field of otolaryngology.
Audience: It is intended for otolaryngology residents, fellows, and practitioners.
Features: What is best about this broad overview is its organization, its systematic approach, and its comprehensiveness. Unique features are the glossary and appendixes. The attempt to encompass the entire specialty in a pocket guide could be considered a shortcoming.
Assessment: This is the ultimate study resource for boards and in-service preparation. It has served me well in prior editions. It does not provide in-depth study of all subjects, but serves as a starting point for further inquiry.
