Children's Literature - Kristin Harris

With special water boots on, we wander around a pond, looking for and finding surprises. Behind a water lily we see a frog. The reader gets to fold back a piece of paper with the illustration of the water lily and it reveals a frog. This theme continues for nine pages, and we meet a dragonfly, newt, tadpoles, a turtle and more. Simple text makes this appropriate for young readers, and sturdy construction indicates it can take a certain amount of abuse. The illustrations are colorful and will help stimulate curiosity. This is a great introduction to a pond habitat for young children.
