Reviewer:Lisa A Pazdernik, MD(Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital)
Description:This book uses a quick outline format and excellent visual aids to provide a very efficient review of pharmacology. As a practicing obstetrician/gynecologist, I found it very worthwhile and also would have found it an excellent study aid as a medical student/resident.
Purpose:The purpose is to provide an outline format for medical students and residents to rapidly obtain or review important pharmacology information. This is a very worthy objective. As a former medical student guilty of outlining all my notes, I could have saved hours of busy work which could have been better used in concentrated study time had I had this book. This book definitely meets its objectives.
Audience:The book is written for medical students and residents in preparation for board examinations and ward duties. It will efficiently and effectively serve this purpose, but as a practitioner, I also found it an excellent review.
Features:The best feature of this book is its rapid outline format and visually pleasing diagrams. It efficiently formats and categorizes the basic pharmacology needed for boards and for ward rounds.
Assessment:This is a very useful and efficient review of pertinent pharmacology. It gets straight to the point for efficient studying for the boards as well as rapid preparation for ward rounds. This book is visually easy to read. I highly recommend it.
